The federal government had on Monday, promised to intervene and rescue Nigerian migrants in the North African country, as they called for help. The National Commission for Refugees, Migrants and Internally Displaced Persons (Southwest Zonal Office), Lagos confirmed this development saying that “only 239 were originally recorded in the sent manifest and 3 extra people came in with the flight. They have now been properly profiled and registered.” The return was facilitated by the International Organisation for Migration (IOM) and a joint effort of Nigerian agencies led by the National Commission for Refugees, Migrants and Internally Displaced Persons (NCFRMI), NEMA, NAPTIP and others. In a statement, the Foreign Affairs Ministry said it was liaising with the Libyan officials on repatriating Nigerians from the country.
